We have spent the last two years building a savannah and improving our timber stands. I'm a firm believer in making good spots to hunt rather than finding good spots to hunt. So far it looks very promising. We are seeing a lot of mature bucks in the savannah and timbered areas this summer. Just a couple weeks ago I jumped two very nice bucks from an adjacent food plot and my dad jumped four nice bucks out of the savannah a week prior to that. Also, a recent field watch resulted in 18 deer with 9 of them being antlered! So far this has been the best summer ever for seeing big bucks in the 16 summers we have had our "farm." Maybe its the good rain we have had this year or maybe bucks really are like rabbits and they just love our savannah / TSI.
Very nice...I think you have hit the nail on the head about making your own spot better...the deer are there...just give them what they need.
Good Job!
